Research Interests

My current research is primarily focused on marine ecosystems (algal blooms). I use methods of linear and nonlinear data analysis to extract information and methods of stochastic and nonlinear dynamics to model observed phenomena. (read more)

One of my major research topics is the theoretical description of frequency and phase synchronization with special emphasis on noise-induced effects. These phenomena have applications in neuronal systems, behavioral biology, or laser systems (VCSEL).

Generally I am interested in complexity research involving elements of information theory, symbolic dynamics, and chaotic systems.
