Causes and consequences of biodiversity (ecological role of functional, species and genetic diversity); Food web dynamics (temperate plankton and sediment, polar plankton and sea ice): Ecological role of mixotrophic protists, ecology of harmful algal blooms, molecular ecology – use of molecular techniques to answer ecological questions
