Fees and Application
Fees and Travel Grants
Thanks to funding by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) the fee for the summer school is 120 Euro only. The costs for accommodation in multi-bedrooms, meals, course materials, and the local transport will be covered.
All non-German participants travelling from abroad will receive a DAAD travel grant The amount depends on the country in which the participant's home institution is located. The DAAD list with the fixed rates is available here (in German only; relevant are the amounts listed in column 1/Spalte 1). An individual application is not required. According to the DAAD regulations participants with German nationality or from institutions or universities in Germany are excluded.
We will take out health, accident, and third-party liability insurances for you (30 days including the duration of the summer school). The health insurance is valid for acute diseases only.
Application
The summer school aims at young scientists with a background in marine or environmental natural sciences of all disciplines. Researchers at PhD student level are welcome to apply, but also advanced master students and young post docs. We aim at a diverse mix of provenances, gender, and of different scientific disciplines, or specialisations.
The application is informal and has to include
- a CV (1 page) and
- a motivation letter (1 page) describing the scientific background of the applicant and his/her personal motivation for and expectation from attending the summer school.
Good English knowledge must be appropriately documented in the application.

The number of participants is limited to 15. A selection will be made by a committee of organisers and lecturers. The successful applicants will be contacted in late March/early April. We expect your confirmation within two weeks. Thereafter, we will invite applicants from a waiting list to fill the remaining places.
