Investigation of biofilm-like properties of the sea-surface microlayer. Biofilms on the ocean´s surface could have extensive and climate-relevant effects on air-sea interactions. Supported by the German Research Foundation.

Biogeochemistry of phosphate and arsenic in the Atlantic

June 2010-May 2012

Investigation of biogeochemical links between phosphate and arsenic in the Atlantic within the framework of the US Geotraces program. Development of arsenic compounds as proxies for phosphate-limiting conditions for phytoplankton growth. Supported by the National Science Foundation (PI: Dr. G. Cutter).
