Projects

My work is part of the CRC TRR51 “Roseobacter”, project A1:

Ecological significance, biogeography and physiology of the Roseobacter clade in pelagic systems

In particular, my topics are:

  • Biogeography of pelagic Roseobacter group subclusters
  • Isolation and characterization of pelagic bacteria
  • Analysis of genome and metagenome data
  • Bacterial CO oxidation in the ocean

PhD thesis: “The pelagic clusters of the Roseobacter group: Global distribution, genome analysis and physiological characterization” (University of Oldenburg, 2016)

Diploma thesis: “Analysis of the composition of prokaryotic populations in the sediment of the tidal river Elbe“ (University of Hamburg, 2009)

Scientific interests

  • Marine microbial ecology
  • Bacterial community structure and distribution
  • Isolation and characterization of bacteria
  • Bacteria - algae interactions
  • Phylogenetic analysis
  • Genome analysis
